The Catering Assistant will provide administrative support to the Catering team, responding to inquiries, creating Banquet Event Orders, handling general calls and emails inquiries, and following-up with clients as needed. He or she will provide a reliable professional presence in the department ensuring that inquiries receive a prompt professional response within 24 hours.

The Catering Assistant will contribute to the success of the catering team as a whole by facilitating all department communication and activities through organized and responsive customer service.

Position Qualifications:
1. High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
2. A passion for the hospitality and service industry and at least one year of prior experience, preferably in a similar environment
3. Enthusiasm and a service-first mindset; a 5-star attitude; able to treat clients, co-workers and vendors with respect and consideration regardless of the situation, their status or position
4. Able to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with all stakeholders, including professional writing and editing; able to listen, speak clearly and persuasively and seek clarification in both comfortable and stressful situations
5. Intermediate to advanced computer skills; well versed with all Microsoft Office applications; able to learn new programs such as Tripleseat quickly and easily.
7. A professional, organized, detail-oriented and reliable team player, able to work well with others
8. A strong work ethic and the ability to work rapidly and quietly during rush periods
9. Exceptional grooming habits, reliably presenting in clean professional attire
10. Punctual and reliable; able to work long hours on short notice including weekends, evenings and holidays
11. Able to juggle multiple competing priorities, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and react well under pressure
12. Able to work efficiently and effectively with minimum or no supervision; comfortable with frequent interruptions.
13. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, confident, and passionate about growing within the catering and event industry.

Working Conditions and Expectations:

  • As a Catering Assistant, you would be responsible for coordinating, tracking, and

responding to inquiries.

  • Coordinate and respond to customer inquiries regarding Banquet Event Orders

(BEOs) and support daily distribution of BEOs

  • Work with Event Coordinators in the processing of deposits, payments, and receipts.
  • Responsibilities include replying to customer inquiries by phone, email, and

sometimes face-to-face in order to make sure that their requests are met.

  • Create event binders for each event to include, BEO, Staff sheet, rentals, beverage

orders and any other relevant information for the Event Captain

  • General office duties and other duties may be assigned.

  • Be able to meet deadlines, multi-task, work in a fast-paced, and time-pressured

environment with multiple interruptions. Have the ability to stay calm and rational
while communicating with different personalities, and communicate efficiently and
effectively over the phone and in writing. Be able to ask questions whenever needed.
Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 10 pounds.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.04 - $17.00 per hour
