About the role

What you need to know:

The Casualty Claims Adjuster is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and resolution of Commercial General Liability and Auto Liability claims. The adjuster will provide exceptional customer service and will be committed to bringing assigned cases to a timely, proper resolution. This requires accurate and thorough documentation, as well as, resolution action plans based upon the applicable law, coverage and supporting evidence. Assigned claims typically consists of medium to moderate complex litigated and non-litigated losses. Key responsibilities include: conducting thorough investigations of coverage, liability, and damages; complying with all statutory and regulatory requirements in all applicable jurisdictions; establishing appropriate loss and expense reserves with documented rationale and on-going reviews of same throughout the life of the file; demonstrating technical efficiency through timely, consistent execution of best claim handling practices and claim handling guidelines; effective communication with internal and external customers on claims and account issues; maintaining and managing a diary system to efficiently manage and resolve assigned claim inventory; and effectively managing the litigation process and defense counsel to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes. Property and casualty licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months of hire

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. Multi-state adjuster licenses and/or JD preferred.
  • 4 + years of general and auto liability claim experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize projects while managing competing priorities.
  • Must be willing to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective decision making skills including the ability to recognize, analyze, and improve claims performance against standards and goals.
  • Strong technical expertise interpreting insurance contracts and negotiating claims.
  • In depth knowledge of claim handling procedures, claims performance strategies, and claim best practices.
