Reporting to the Assistant Director of Architectural Trades. The Carpenter and Paint Shop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day work and activities of the Carpenter and Painter tradesmen at Main Campus, Ambler, and Dental. Responsibilities consist of supervising carpenter and painter performing basic building maintenance and larger carpentry and painting projects for all buildings on Main Campus, Ambler, and Dental. As a Small Projects Coordinator, the supervisor will be responsible for the management of construction, and other professionals employed in the planning, design, and construction of small capital projects. Responsible for the administration of financial records, and the development and maintenance of project budgets and reports. Responsible for the administration and maintenance of all contract documents, daily work reports, correspondence, change order requests, change orders, and related project documentation. Responsible for verification of work performed and the recommendation for approval and payment of the amounts invoiced on behalf of architects, engineers, attorneys, building contractors, construction managers, and other consultants. Typical projects will be the renewal/renovation of common space, classrooms, bathrooms, suites, entries, and minor renovations. Coordinate project progress meetings, issue monthly status and financial reports, update construction progress schedules, ensure that proper permits/reviews and zoning ordinances are obtained. Manages assigned capital program elements to assure execution of projects within established budgets and schedules. Reports on budget and schedule performance of the assigned capital program to university administration. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or trade school diploma required. At least 5 years of experience in the building trades as a supervisor, lead person or foreperson. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: Preferred: This position requires a background check.
