Provide care and assistance to residents in a compassionate, quality customer service environment that preserves dignity, may be assigned as lead person on evening and night shifts.
- Assists residents with bathing and skin care following community’s policies and procedures.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living as described on individual care plans.
- Assists residents getting into and out of bed as needed.
- Cleans up after accidents in a timely, efficient manner while maintaining the dignity of the resident
- Assists those who have fallen providing safety, security, and compassion.
- Takes vital signs and weights as required.
- Communicates effectively with residents with empathy and assurance. Follows up with appropriate personnel regarding their concerns.
- Assists with eating and drinking as required.
- Escorts to/from dining room as needed.
- Picks up laundry from resident’s rooms assuring all items are identifiable and sorted according to the proper resident.
- Sorts, washes, dries, folds, and hang laundry according to community’s procedures.
- Irons as required, according to community’s procedures.
- Returns clean laundry to proper resident’s room.
- Serves meals to those unable to ambulate to dining room according to policy.
- Assures excellent customer service by maintaining open and honest communication, answering phone promptly and professionally, and assuring residents, families, physicians and other employees’ needs are met.
- Assists residents in getting to daily activities.
- Provides tours to potential residents and families that show how the residents’ individual needs can be met and promotes the concept of care of the community.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor that encourages a positive nurturing environment for the residents, families, vendors, and guests.
- Maintains a positive customer service environment and practices honesty and integrity in all aspects of performance.
- Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information in and out of the community and protects and supports residents’ rights.
- Attends regularly scheduled in-service and training sessions.
- Calls emergency medical response as needed during emergency situations.
- Documents care/services in appropriate places.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English for patient care and safety for self and others.
- Must show compassion and genuinely care for the elderly.
- Must be knowledgeable of the location of the MSDS sheets on hazardous materials and able to understand the guidelines.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team to prioritize work load as emergencies arise.
- Must possess First Aid knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work in stressful situations with residents, families, visitors, and other staff.
- Computer literate to engage in training, company communications, enrollment and updating benefits and personal information.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification in nursing assistance desired.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Must be able to lift residents, with assistance, over 100 pounds. Position requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, stooping, bending.
Shift hours 6 am - 2 pm, 2 pm - 10 pm, 10 pm - 6 am, 4 hour float shifts for days and evenings
