Position Purpose The Health Director, under the supervision of the Camp Director and under the standing orders and technical direction of a licensed physician in the nearby community, is responsible for overseeing and promoting the general health, safety, and sanitation of the campers, staff, and entire camp. The Health Director is responsible for making decisions based upon established medical protocol and supervisory review. Camp Lakota is a Girl Scout overnight camp that serve girls in grades 2-12. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. * Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serves more than 32,000 girls and nearly 16,000 caring adult volunteers from the diverse communities of Los Angeles County and parts of San Bernardino and Kern Counties. These values are the specific behaviors that are expected, encouraged, and rewarded within our GSGLA culture. * * * * The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles Camp Lakota is a state of the art, recently updated residential camp. Located just 90 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this premier camp site will host a full summer camp season. The camp will focus on providing a stand-out girl-led experience for campers of all ages and communities across our 6, 272 square mile footprint. The camp offers a variety of specialty activities including a high ropes challenge course, horseback riding, swimming, and archery. 1. Provide health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers. 2. Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff. 3. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state, American Camp Association, and GSGLA standards. 4. Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies. 5. Ensure a staff orientation session is delivered on medical services. 6. Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp. 7. Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp. 8. Act as a member of the camp administrative team (Camp Director, Health Director, Activity Director) within activities and throughout the camp day. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Health Director has specific relationships with other health care staff which may include volunteer/staff physicians, on-call nurses, or other designated medical staff. They may work with the Food Service Director to ensure sanitation is upheld in the kitchen and food service areas. Additionally, the Health Director will work with camp staff to ensure camp cleanliness and sanitation. They regularly communicate with campers and staff regarding health issues, concerns, and general well-being.
Qualifications (Minimum Education and Experience)*
Registered nurse (RN), physician, or EMT with a license as required by state law.
Additional Organizational Requirements*

Physical Requirements*
Communicates and works with all ages and skill levels and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
