Your Role:

Blackstone’s Liquid Markets engineering team (where credit engineering reports) builds and integrates best in class products themed around the BX Liquid Markets Businesses: BAAM (Hedge Fund and Direct Investing), BXC (Credit), BREDS (Real Estate Debt Strategies), and BIS (Insurance). These products serve and touch every part of the investment process, from deal sourcing, trading and order management (OMS), portfolio management (Risk and PnL), and all downstream analytics and reporting both internally and externally. These technologies include both fund ledgers (Geneva/Arcesium), security masters/MDM, as well as a broad range of data streams and integrations built to serve these functions.

We are seeking a Product Owner to help us transform BXTI into a premier Agile organization. The successful candidate will take ownership of critical applications, working daily with our business and development partners to create epics, write user stories, refine the backlog, and set priorities. These epics will include custom development, working within our existing technology frameworks, and enabling external service providers to create a seamless environment for our business partners. In addition, this candidate will develop roll-out and training plans to create user adoption of new or existing tools to ensure that the business value from those projects is fully realized.

The new executive will contribute technically as well as through his/her organizational leadership of teams distributed between New York, Miami, India and Costa Rica. These teams operate in an evolving Agile practice and are targeting modern cloud native patterns through current transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a leader of leaders, drive both organizational and technical leadership
  • Work in partnership with the reporting team leads
  • Collaborate and support internal product organizations
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders from the business, including some of the most senior investment and finance executives in the firm, to establish and ratify product strategy with tech leads and product managers
  • Curate and evolve an Agile practice which empowers innovative and iterative value creation while creating accountability to broader business goals
  • Target a modern cloud-native architecture and entrenching a passion for quality throughout the product delivery lifecycle
  • Lead 4 separate product teams with multiple scrums including both full time as well as onshore and offshore contractors and consultants

Essential Qualifications

  • Our Credit Technology Product Owner will have deep knowledge in credit investing and leverage finance markets, particularly direct lending and liquid credit, including broadly syndicated loans (1st/2nd lien loans), CLOs, corporate bonds as well as historical experience with credit analytics and fund liquidity management.
  • Highly experienced professional with deep technical expertise and experience with corporate finance systems, ideally accounting, ledgers, alternatives funds and supporting data sources. Geneva/Arcesium or other accounting packages are plusses.
  • Technical leader who has assessed, chosen & implemented finance IT solutions
  • Industry Experience: expertise with solutions that model and calculate results (to include distributions and firm revenue) across a complex array of businesses and investments.
  • Alternatives and/or PE experience required
  • 7 or more years of experience managing and leading managers and geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience interacting with business heads, including directly with deal team members
  • Proven ability to hold oneself and others accountable
  • Skilled in making decisions and owning outcomes
  • Able to collaborate across teams and businesses

Desired Attributes

  • Technical: hands-on with deep experience leading and scaling an Agile development culture, including partnering with empowered product managers and modern/automated quality strategies
  • Cloud native expert in cloud-based architecture and cloud transformation
  • Experience with scaled public cloud architectures and deployments, preferably including transformation and cloud uplift
