We’re actively seeking a talented Business Systems Analyst to join our Retirement Solutions Division Technology Team, specifically supporting our Actuarial and Risk business functions. The position is based in Newport Beach, CA and hybrid work mode is encouraged.
As a successful Business Systems Analyst, you are an organized and self-motivated IT practitioner who proactively work with business partners to analyze requirements and drive the design and implementation effort required to deliver the optimal solution. In this role, you will support a growing team that provides IT services to our divisional Actuarial and Risk teams and be the connection point between business teams and application development teams. Your colleagues will include fellow systems analysts who will jointly work towards delivering efficient and stable technology solutions.
How you will make an impact:
Act as primary point of contact for the technology solutions that support and enable actuarial and risk business processes, including valuation, reserves, hedging, projections
Analyze complex business problems, evaluate business needs, and clarify requirements, data, processes, and systems for complex technology projects.
Develop solutions to complex problems within the larger context of the business needs and objectives; coordinating with divisional or enterprise business and technology teams on overlapping requirements.
Work with various application development or engineering teams to prioritize actuarial and risk use cases and drive understanding of data and process requirements.
Work closely with other teams to assist with integration design, development, implementation and documentation through the creation of system / flow diagrams.
Support application development teams with unit, integration and QA testing, and support defect analysis and resolution.
Support user acceptance testing and adoption of changes through planning, test-scenario identification, communication, and execution.
Works independently and proactively provide supervisor and management team with updates including status tracking, issues or risk escalations.
Build and nurture good working relationships with actuarial and risk business community of end users
Communicate complex concepts and results in a clear and effective manner, including key deliverables such as requirements documentation and functional specifications, or PowerPoint presentation to summarize for broader or executive audience.
The experience you bring:
Major in Computer Science/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience working with database management solutions, such as Snowflake, SQL, Amazon RDS, Oracle DB, etc.
Foundational knowledge of modern SDLC in various technologies (AWS Services, Python, C#, .Net Core, Windows/Linux).
Experience working in Agile and Waterfall SDLC processes and team structures.
Familiarity with finance and actuarial business functions to understand business context
Strong work ethics and accountability in your responsibilities.
Strong team player who actively contributes to team's successes and growth, completes tasks on-time, and respects each team members' ideas with aim to improve the product or process at hand.
What will make you stand out:
Advanced degree in data science, data analytics or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience working on data integration with actuarial modeling platform (e.g. Prophet, AXIS, PolySystems, MoSes)
Experience with Financial Services, Annuities or Insurance products preferred; good understanding of insurance contract and administration lifecycle
