Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is seeking a Business Management Director 1, Directed Energy & Strategic Products to join our diverse team at the Redondo Beach, California location. The Business Management Director 1, Directed Energy & Strategic Products will report to the SSSD Vice President (VP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position is responsible for all Business Management activity associated with Programs & Operations for Directed Energy & Strategic Products Business Unit. Critical success factors for candidates will include a dynamic leadership presence, highly collaborative work style, the ability to anticipate problems, proactively deal with difficult situations and communicate appropriately with all levels of stakeholders. The candidate selected for this role must have strong organizational, problem-solving and closure skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated interpersonal skills with different stakeholders and levels of professionals and Management. Training in any of Northrop Grumman’s common process management tools is a plus as well as experience managing in a geographically dispersed matrix operation. This postion requires the incumbent to posses an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (S) Clearance and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. The selected applicant is a key partner in developing and establishing business strategies, investment prioritizations, delivering strong financial results, which include, but not limited to the following key duties:
  • Hire, train, lead, develop, mentor and grow a 30+ member Business Management team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, both within and outside the Division, to ensure success of business priorities and outcomes
  • Business capture/proposal activity oversight to corporation commitment authorities and negotiation yields
  • Annual Operating Plan (AOP) / Long-Range Strategic Plan (LRSP) forecast development
  • Non-Contractual Technical Activity (NCTA) and Capital Expenditure investment prioritization and management
  • Financial accounting/reporting, including Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) contract profitability assessments/reviews, cash flow/balance sheet management, Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and business systems oversight
  • Forward Pricing Rate Proposal (FPRP) development and rate/budget management
  • Ensure that the business management organization remains in strict compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) business control requirements and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) / Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) regulations
  • Primary leadership liaison with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Internal Audit, and Deloitte & Touche (D&T)


Basic Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (S) Clearance and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of Business Management experience
  • 5 years of leadership experience
  • Must be able to travel as needed within local geographical area
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration and 8 years of Business Management experience
  • New business capture experience and/or experience in managing large execution programs
