GENERAL SUMMARY: The Business Development Associate is based out of Charter Construction’s corporate office in Seattle and is responsible for collaborating with the Remediation Team Leader, Operations Manager and Director of Business Development & Marketing, to strategically identify prospective clients in designated market segments. This person will be responsible for reviewing opportunities with leadership to determine which should be pursued. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: · Identify projects (Remediation, Specialty Projects) and obtain opportunities for Charter Construction to bid, estimate or negotiate those projects · Track project leads and critical path information on prospects · Assist in writing proposals and preparing brochures as needed · Create and maintain Seattle Remediation database of relevant contacts—clients, prospective clients and business partners · Represent Charter Construction in Seattle at industry trade shows, at CAI or other trade group meetings, serve on committees and participate at relevant events · Participate in events and schedule activities that occur in evenings and occasionally on weekends · Identify and obtain speaking and teaching opportunities for Charter Construction leaders and Project Managers. Assist with developing presentations that feature Charter’s expertise and that position Charter Construction as an industry leader · Work with the Director of Business Development & Marketing and the Marketing Team to create marketing materials that are needed for assigned market segments or specific events · Develop and maintain long-term client relationships · Share client and prospective client relationships with Seattle Remediation leaders and Project Managers. Assist other Charter Construction employees in developing relationships with clients and prospective clients · Reach out to community managers and other industry professionals on a regular basis to develop and maintain the relationship (breakfasts, lunches, “cookie drop-ins”, happy hours, fun events; engage PMs as appropriate) · Assist with other marketing activities as assigned by the Director of Business Development & Marketing · Assist with other Business Development activities as assigned PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Strong ability to quickly create and maintain long-term relationships · Ability to work with people at all levels of client companies or organizations · Comfortable walking into a group of strangers and building relationships over time · Strong public speaking skills and ability to design presentations · Creative in developing appropriate social activities to enhance business relationships · Ability to engender confidence in Charter’s ability to perform work and to set appropriate expectations for that work · Ability to analyze opportunities to determine if they are a good fit for Charter · Articulate in conversation and explanation · Very good writing skills · Solid Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook skills REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Demonstrated experience in building successful long-term relationships · Experience in relational, long sales cycle business development · Demonstrated ability to work with people at a variety of levels in an organization · 5-10 years of customer relations or business development experience in mid-sized, entrepreneurial company.
