Job SummaryThe successful candidate for the Building Information Specialist will create and maintain floor plans for all buildings used by Purdue University including buildings owned, rented, leased, and potential purchases currently numbering around 900 buildings across four campuses, agricultural centers, business centers, forests, farms, and offices throughout the state of Indiana. Support building information components relating to architectural and space management disciplines to include assisting with the development of standards, levels of development, deliverable requirements, and integration into the GIS.

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in technical graphics, architecture, interior design, or related field
- One year relevant experience working with floor plans and space management
- Consideration given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
- Recent, relevant experience using one or more BIS/BIM industry-standard software packages
- Strong understanding of the creation and maintenance processes for floor plans, building information models, building information systems, and space management data in a research university and campus environment
- Ability to accurately compile, review and interpret complex interior spatial information
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related documents from contractors and staff
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly motivated individual who will take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines
- Ability to adopt a learning orientation towards obtaining and maintaining proficiency in relevant technologies
- Ability to work both independently and on a team
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion while working with sensitive information
- A valid US or Canadian driver's license
Preferred:
- Experience developing and producing building information models using established BIM standards
