Employment Type : Full-Time

EAC Network seeks a Bookkeeper to work part-time for its Community Guardianship program located in Suffolk County. The position is PT, up to 14 hours weekly.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing client funds as dictated in the Order and Judgment. The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate and detailed accounts of all assets.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and marshal clients income and assets.
  • Identify clients outstanding and ongoing liabilities and expenses and manage the process of payments for bills and other expenses, using Article 81 approved banking accounts and database.
  • Prepare and review clients financial information for initial, annual, and final accounts reporting
  • File annual tax returns and negotiate back taxes
  • Individualized financial services on an as-needed basis, such as reverse mortgages, managing and making withdrawals from investments, or assist in selling properties.
  • Submit written progress reports as required by the Department of Social Services and/or Guardianship Court.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma or Educational equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred, Accounting/business certificate with significant experience accepted.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in an accounting capacity required.
  • Must have good communication skills, both oral and written; must have the ability to work cooperatively with the department of social service professionals and other professionals interfacing with program clients.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
  • Must have access to automobile and possess valid New York State Drivers License.
