Overview: Provides clinical service and team leadership to the Specialized Developmental Disabilities Unit (SDDU) at New Directions where residential treatment is provided to dual-diagnosed adolescents in the child welfare system in an open community based setting.
The Specialized Developmental Disability (SDD) program provides enhanced residential treatment to youth with intensive and specialized service needs related to developmental disabilities, including Autism and intellectually disabled youth, who have deficits in social communication skills, sensory processing, and a limited ability to conduct daily living tasks without intensive support.
The Behavior Analyst/Treatment Coordinator is responsible for evaluation of residents and the development and implementation of behavioral treatment plans. Works with other interdisciplinary team members for treatment planning and implementation. Provides case management, crisis intervention, consultation and training to staff.Responsibilities:- Conduct assessments (may include Essential for Living, AFLS, and assessments of receptive and expressive language.
- Design, execute and monitor behavioral analysis treatment plans including therapeutic interventions
- Assist in regular training and support to direct care staff implementing treatment protocols in the residential milieu
- Collaborate with MDHHS and PAFC caseworkers to develop and implement plans that promote permanency for each resident through return to family or through finding adoptive family/permanent guardianship.
- Actively facilitate all arrangements necessary for the resident and the program to participate in the adoptive recruitment process including Transportation to match parties, photo sessions, etc…
- Prepare for and implement comprehensive discharge/aftercare plans, including representation in court as required.
- Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner to assure compliance with licensing regulations and contractual obligations
- Coordinate any outside therapy, trauma assessments, required psychological evaluations, sibling visits, and transportation as required or other services for residents.
- On-call responsibility in emergency situations. Assist with psychiatric hospitalizations as specified in agency procedures.
- Engage parents in treatment planning and parent training sessions
- Provide supervision to practicum students as needed
- Respond in a relevant and appropriate physical manner to incidents of verbal and/or physical aggression.
Qualifications:- Graduate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field (Special Education, Psychology)
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Licensed Behavior Analyst
- At least one year training and/or experience working with persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Experience with adolescents and/or in a residential treatment program and training on standardized assessments such as ADOS, AFLS or PPVT preferred.
