Bldg Maint Worker/Custodian_Corps Prog-301Daytona Beach, FL, USA Req #14666 Tuesday, August 24, 2021 LOCATION: DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT JOB SUMMARY Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intendedto identify the major responsibilities and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this position description. Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in the walls and paints walls. Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels. Maintains the grounds to include mowing grass, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds. Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks. Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc. Monitors activities and visitors of the building and grounds to ensure security. Drives truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work. Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected, and surroundings are left neat and clean. Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed. Maintains all tools, supplies, parts and equipment belonging to the maintenance department. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in cleaning the kitchen and dining area. Performs other related work as required. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED Hand-held tools power tools lawn tools MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED High school diploma or GED Valid state driver’s license KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions. Ability to perform routine and monitor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds. Ability to use and maintain equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform heavy lifting. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. WORKING CONDITIONS Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
