Position Summary: The Rice Diet Project in the Nephrology Division is currently recruiting a Master's-level biostatistician to assist in data cleaning and analyses. He/she will collaborate with faculty investigators and supervising faculty statistician in conducting data analyses for the project. Specific job responsibilities include data cleaning, data analyses, preparation of results summary and assist with report preparation. Good communication skills are required to interact with investigators and other project staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Meet with investigators regularly to discuss the project status, and provide input regarding data cleaning and analyses.
Work independently to implement appropriate statistical methods and conduct statistical analyses utilizing SAS, and/or R statistical packages.
Prepare comprehensive summary reports and assist investigators in the interpretation of statistical results.
Work with investigators closely to prepare statistical-related components for scientific presentations, conference abstracts, manuscripts, and grant proposals. This includes the preparation of tables, figures, and graphs depicting research results

Programming and Data Set Documentation
Design analysis data set specifications.
Write own SAS and/or R code, debug, and validate output and results, program with increasing efficiency
When necessary has ability to perform complex programming such as advanced SAS procedures and macros, and/or user defined R functions.
Maintain excellent documentation including well annotated programming code for each project task.

Position Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications :
Work requires a minimum of a Master's degree in (bio)statistics, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience.
Proficiency with SAS (including macro language, ODS, and graphics) and/or R
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability for data management and formatting for standard statistical software
Strong communication (verbal and written) skills with statisticians and non-statisticians alike, particularly clinical investigators
Strong organizational and documentation skills to generate detailed documentation for each project
Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, and the ability to meet deadlines (e.g., grant applications, conference abstracts, etc)
Initiative to acquire new skills

Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in statistics/biostatistics with at least one year of internship or job experience, or a Ph.D. degree in statistics/biostatistics.
Previous collaborative research experience in an academic Medical Center a plus.
