Haskell is seeking a BIM Specialist - Design to join our team in either our Oklahoma City or St Louis office!
This role in the Design Consulting Services (DCS) group will leverage the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to support project teams to pursue, design, manage and execute projects. The BIM Specialist will utilize Virtual Design workflows for project coordination, be an integral part of the project design team, and utilize innovative technical skillsets to ensure the successful development of the project design.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordination – Develop and maintain integrated project coordination models using Navisworks software, and create clash detection reports based on analysis of multiple design disciplines and trade subcontractor 3D models.
- Collaboration – Participate in virtual collaboration meetings with the project team, while leveraging the coordination model as a decision-making tool to solve complex coordination issues.
- Reality Capture – Process, register, and publish laser scan point cloud data for coordination.
- Innovation – Support innovation through research and testing of new technologies.
- General Model Coordination
- Assist the Design Manager in developing the Level of Design for the project
- Starts the project with Haskell standard template
- Creates the title block and sheet sets
- Updates the modeling schedule
- Attends project meetings when requested and updates the modeling team on changes
- Makes sure the best practices are being used
- Enforces the use of “Launch Control” utility to start or open Revit projects
- Modeler/Designer Support
- Conducts onboarding for every design/modeler added to the project
- Provides support for less experienced designers
- Attends project meetings and communicates with design modelers
- Conducts interdisciplinary meetings with all modelers to resolve design conflicts
- Works with A/E Technology Manager to solve hardware or software issues
- Model Evaluation
- Periodically evaluates the model as required and identifies deficiencies or coordination issues.
- Assures that high priority elements are depicted and modeled accurately by drawing specifications using lessons learned from previous projects
- Performs interdisciplinary clash detection and provides team members with clash detection reports and hosts/moderates clash detection meetings to resolve issues.
- Assures coordination between Civil 3d, Plant 3D and Revit software platforms.
- Compacts the central file, and resolves all warnings as applicable
Education/Experience:
- Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Design or comparable experience. Relevant experience in CAD Design, Building Information Modeling, Virtual Design and Construction.
- 5-10 years of experience as CAD Designer (any engineering discipline). 2 years of experience providing project/design/model coordination.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Microsoft Office software is required.
- Proficiency with SketchUp, AutoCAD, Civil3D, 3D Studio Max, Lumion, Synchro software is preferred.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines, establish and meet schedules, and maintain focus in order to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
- Understanding of AEC industry and project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases).
- Understanding of different needs and responsibilities of the delivery team (architects, engineers, estimators, project managers, and field staff).
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation abilities.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Some travel to conferences and project sites is required.
