Billing AssistantJob TitleBilling AssistantJob DescriptionThe Billing Assistant is responsible for monitoring and processing the direct services electronic billing for in-home services, maintaining the accounts receivable invoices and payments in the WellSky software, obtaining Medicaid authorizations through the online portal, and entering Plans of Care in the WellSky software. The Billing Assistant provides support for all billing operations under the direct supervision of the Billing Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor caregiver schedules in Clear Care for shifts not assigned to the proper authorization. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
Submit required forms through online portal to obtain authorization of Medicaid Personal Care services for in-home clients. Review online portal daily for new approved authorizations, notify field office staff, and upload authorization into Clear Care. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
Enter new clients and the plan of care for in-home services into the WellSky software in a timely manner ensuring that information is secure, accessible and accurate for billing purposes to minimize denied billing. This duty is performed weekly, about 20% of the time.
Clear claim exceptions and confirm cleared claims in Authenticare for Medicaid billing. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
Post payments in the WellSky software for each client and claim. Reconcile the payments with billing to maintain an accurate accounts receivable for each payer. Responsible to resolve payment discrepancies and process denied billing. Responsible for notifying supervisor when denials are received. This duty is performed weekly, about 20% of the time.
Collects, verifies and processes private pay and Medicaid billing for the Personal Emergency Response Systems. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
Enters private pay and third party insurance billing in the WellSky software and responsible for mailing billings each month and responding to related inquiries. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.
Enter service billing data for Targeted Case Management and submit claims to Medicaid. Work with Purchased Services Assistant to submit Home Delivered Meals billing to Medicaid. Reconcile and denied claims. This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

High school, plus at least 2 years related experience in medical or insurance billing, accounting, or finance. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Advanced: 10-Key, Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Excel Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
Proficient: Database, Web Based Programs
Basic: Other, Payroll Systems
