Benefits Specialist

Swinerton is looking for a Benefits Specialist to provide support with the day-to-day administration of various benefits plans sponsored by the Company.Job Description:
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the Benefits group with the overall administration of all group benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, short and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance program, transportation, business travel accident, etc.
- Provide customer service and communication to all employees and assistance to employees and covered dependents in resolving complex issues, as directed.
- Monitor and maintain employee benefits mailbox and other direct communication channels throughout the day as needed.
- Partner with members of the Swinerton Solutions Center for front line responses to employee benefits inquiries and processes.
- Coordinate participant mass mailings/email campaigns (required mailing and miscellaneous communications, i.e. Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary Annual Reports, etc.)
- Serve as a content contributor to update and maintain relevant information for Benefits pages on SwinNet.
- Responsible for new hire and mid-year qualifying event changes as related to the benefits process, including applicable correspondence and process entry in Workday HRIS.
- Responsible for the benefit termination process, including correspondence to terminated employee, COBRA file submission, generation of one time overrides for final paychecks and entry into applicable vendor systems
- Process weekly flexible spending wire transfer requests to ensure proper funding in account.
- Partner with Benefits Manager and Sr. Benefits Analyst in activities relating to Open Enrollment, including new vendor implementation, communications development and review, employee education, etc.
- Serve as back-up to the Benefits Analyst for reconciliation of carrier enrollment and applicable monthly billing.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and training classes as needed.
- Ensures compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA provisions
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
- Associates Degree or equivalent training and experience
- Minimum 2 years in benefit administration or in a Human Resources generalist role.
- Familiarity with group benefit plans and processes, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending account, EAP, protected leaves, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.
- Effective written and verbal English communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of or ability to learn HRIS system (Workday systems experience highly desirable)
- Ability to follow directions and procedures
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
