We are looking for a highly-experienced Benefits Analyst to join our West Fraser team in the US. This position is located at our US Corporate Headquarters in Germantown, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the company’s health and welfare and retirement plans (defined contribution and defined benefit) in accordance with plan documents and company policies and procedures.
  • Serves as the subject-matter expert for retirement recordkeeper’s system.
  • Responsible for overall set-up and maintenance of benefit plans in the HRIS system, including annual enrollment changes.
  • Ongoing responsibility for vendor data file feeds and reconciling error reports, identifying recommendations for streamlining the process.
  • Supports management in the annual benefits renewal process, providing financial and data analysis as needed.
  • Monitors experience (claims, administration fees, utilization) of all benefit plans; creates benefit-cost report and narrative for management review.
  • Works with consultants to develop projections for the annual benefits budgeting process.
  • Works with auditors to provide information as needed to support the annual audits for qualified benefit plans.
  • Coordinates all government filings and requirements such as 5500s, 8955-SSAs, PBGC Premiums, 1095-C, Annual Funding Notices, and Summary Annual Report.
  • Audits and maintains benefit plans for compliance with government regulations.
  • Responsible for financial aspects of benefits such as cost analysis, vendor invoices, and benefits billing.
  • Provides data and supports vendors for annual nondiscrimination testing.
  • Participates in the fiduciary compliance process for defined benefit and defined contribution plans involving the coordination of investment selection meetings and keeping of minutes.
  • Analyzes external market/benchmark data and identifies areas where we can be more competitive with our benefits offerings.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements to reduce or eliminate errors.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience / Skill / Competency Requirements

  • 7+ years of in-depth employee benefits analyst experience required.
  • In-depth experience providing administrative oversight for retirement (defined benefit and defined contribution) and health and welfare plans are required.
  • Analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to communicate effectively with employees on all levels.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with the ability to prioritize is required.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS databases maintenance is required.
  • Extensive technical experience managing outsourced HRIS benefit platforms is required.

Preference:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or significant work toward designation is highly desirable.
