The Benefit Specialist Summary

Compex is seeking to add to our team a Benefits Specialist who will be responsible for supporting our team members and conducting the administration of employee benefits, leave of absences, 401k administration, workers’ compensation claims, and Covid-19 protocols.

What you will do…

  • Partners with the HR team in the implementation of new and the renewal of existing benefit programs.
  • Provides benefits administration including responding to employee questions, claims issues, new hire enrollment, mid-year status changes, terminations, COBRA notifications, leave payments and annual open enrollment.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of the benefit carrier invoices. Audits monthly benefit invoices and approves for payment. Conducts regular audits to ensure accuracy in enrollments.
  • Works with benefits carriers and vendors to resolve complex, non-routine, benefits-related requests/issues to closure.
  • Prepares and files annual reports and distributes required annual notices.
  • Manages employee leave of absences; provides required notices, ensures submittal of supporting paperwork, tracks leave time, communicate with employees, benefit payment, etc.
  • Reviews and manages Workers’ Compensation incidents; oversees and manages claim reviews, coordinates with claim adjusters, insurance carriers, and providers.
  • Develops, improves, and implements sound Leave of Absence and Workers’ Compensation processes and policies, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide support to the retirement plan administration for internal and external compliance, complete annual Non-discrimination Testing and audit processes, and support employee inquires and enrollment.
  • Prepare and file annual reports and distribute required notices: SPD, 1095 B/C, etc.
  • Manage benefits setup within ADP Workforce Now
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

Experience and Competencies you will possess…

· 3 – 8 years’ experience as HR generalist, or specialized in benefits and leave administration

· Knowledge of California labor law as applicable to leave of absences, workers’ compensation, retirement plans and employee health and wellness benefits

· Strong communication skills, written and verbal; customer service centric

· Ability to work under general supervision in a fast-paced environment with tight

deadlines; multitask with a sense of urgency between competing tasks

· Possess basic Computer skills with a strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products, experience with ADP Workforce Now software highly preferred

· Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

· Ability to work well in a team environment, cross-functionally
· Can-do mentality, Self-starter, adaptable, highly motivated and achievement oriented
