Mentor: Manager
Overview:
Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests. Work as a member of the team to assist in providing exemplary customer service and creating return customers. Communicate professionally and respectfully. Maintain an organized, sanitary and safe workspace.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service Duties:
- Maintain complete understanding of menu, including flavors and ingredients. Have knowledge of relevant food allergies and dietary needs; be able to answer customer questions regarding the menu accurately and clearly.
- Welcome and greet all guests. Ensure guests feel comfortable.
- Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
- Monitor and observe guests' dining experience. Anticipate their needs. Respond promptly and courteously to all needs and requests.
- Ensure customers are satisfied with the food and service.
- Direct customer complaints to Management.
- Report all safety and sanitation concerns to the Manager in a timely manner.
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
- Willing to assist fellow employees as situations arise.
- Take food and beverage orders and enter orders accurately into the POS system.
- Up-sell to increase check average. Offer beverages, sides, desserts, etc.
- Inform guests of final check total, accept payment, and count the cash and process credit card charges.
- Properly count change back to customers.
- Open and close registers properly with the Manager.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Manager.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any concerns.
- Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform side work and maintain a clean service area throughout the shift.
- Use an open / closing checklist to properly open and close station; check out with the Manager.
Qualifications:
- Fluent English required.
- At least one year experience in a full bar.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by business needs.
- Commitment to quality service. Basic knowledge of and food and beverage service and dining room functions.
- Basic math skills. Able to accurately and efficiently perform basic math functions. Able to accurately handle cash.
- Food Handler's Card Required.
Skills/Aptitudes:
- Able to work in a high-energy and demanding environment.
- Work well under pressure.
- Able to identify and properly address problems with equipment and work environment.
- Able to take direction.
- Able to learn and follow work guidelines based on Health Department, OSHA and ADA
Regulations. - Ability to learn the proper use and safety requirements of all service equipment.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of sanitation/cleanliness in areas.
- Memorization of menu both food and drink.
Working Conditions:
- This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
- Behave professionally and can be flexible in a changing environment.
- The individual must be able to lift and easily maneuver plates of food, as well as other items, weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
- Must be able to regularly stand, walk, lift and perform other general duties.
At least one year of bartending experience in a full bar is required as well as memorization of in house cocktail recipes, basic drink recipe knowlege, and following bar preparation standards.
