Backend Software Engineering Intern

The proliferation of machine data has the potential to give organizations unprecedented real-time visibility into their infrastructure and operations. With this opportunity comes tremendous technical challenges around ingesting, managing, and understanding high-volume streams of heterogeneous data.

The Advanced Analytics team is responsible for product features like Global Intelligence, which combines unique datasets and machine learning technologies to deliver industry-first capabilities to our customers. As an intern on this team, your work can span a wide range of areas including:

  • core backend software engineering
  • use case understanding and problem formulation
  • dataset curation and data pipeline development
  • data science prototyping and experimentation
  • machine learning infrastructure
  • reliability assurance via automated testing and monitoring

Requirements

  • Studying for B.S. / M.S. in Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Structured programming experience: Scala, Java, C++, Go, Python, Ruby, or similar
  • Machine learning fundamentals: modeling and evaluation methodology
  • Collaboration skills: communication, defining problems, formulating solutions, planning and execution
  • Quantitative skills: algorithms and data structures, statistics, back-of-the-envelope calculations, theoretical thinking
