Locations: New York, NY; Morristown, NJ or Philadelphia, PA What to expect: The aggregation potential in Casualty insurance is increasingly a focus area for insurers. Data and techniques for evaluating this exposure are in the early stages of development. You will be central to developing Guy Carpenter’s advisory services to insurance companies on this critical exposure. This position is instrumental to building out expertise and capabilities in this area as well as scaling the commercial impact. We’ll count on you to: Lead the ingestion of client data including mapping to consistent data structures and remediating issues with data. Support the augmentation of client with data elements from external sources. Develop queries to extract and summarize data in response to requests. Work with Guy Carpenter brokers to develop data visualizations to support clients understanding of risk aggregation. Become an acknowledged expert in the use of Casualty Catastrophe models. Comprehensive actuarial student program What you need to have: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field such as Mathematics or Statistics. 3-8 years of relevant insurance/ reinsurance experience in an analytical role. Experience working with insurance exposure, premium and loss data Understanding of the product lines and the global and regional industry conditions Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail. Excellent computer skills for using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). Ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-wide quality initiatives. Experience with database queries using SQL or related tools Ability to work with other internal colleagues to identify client needs in order to deliver solutions which meet or exceed client expectations Understanding of public economic data sources Curious and able to explore new concepts and technologies Knowledge of Python preferred Excellent oral & written communication skills. Ability to travel internationally and domestically.
