JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Operates all equipment as required for plant operation.


  • Routinely inspects equipment and records operating data as assigned and requests Work Requests to be issued for equipment needing repair.


  • Makes security checks of plant property as required.


  • Performs specific tasks and assists during start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency operation.


  • Responsible for keeping plant and equipment clean.


  • Must maintain a high level of job knowledge concerning the operation of specific equipment, systems and total plant operation.


  • When not engaged in activities for the operations area, may be assigned to other areas.


  • Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.


  • Must satisfactorily complete all study or training requirements for the Power Generation Operation Group and all required IMT training.Apprentice training requirements, including achieving a satisfactory score on a proficiency test, must be accomplished before advancing to next apprentice step.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school graduate or equivalent.


  • Must score a minimum of Grade 12 on education equivalency test.Must score a minimum of 22 on Wonderlic Test.


  • Graduate of an accredited Power Generation training program preferred.


  • Prior work experience in large commercial power generation operations group or comparable industrial work environment.


  • Physical requirements:

    • Must be physically able to climb continuous flight of stairs.

    • Must be physically able to climb and work from all types of ladders.

    • Must be able to work at high elevations on open grating.

    • Must be able to distinguish the colors, White, Yellow, Green and Red.

    • Must be able to regularly and repeatedly perform the following physical tasks; shoveling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rodding, jackhammering, moving trash pumps, etc.

    • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.

    • Must be able to comply with the requirements of the Respiratory Protection Program.


  • Ability to work under stress and accept responsibilities.


  • Must demonstrate the ability to take direction and work with others to accomplish job duties.


  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.


  • Must be able to safely operate high-pressure water washing equipment, fork trucks, and small power equipment.


  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of mechanical and electricalconcepts, and able to advance in knowledge and understanding of both areas.


  • Must have good communication skills, reading, writing, speaking and listening.


  • Must be self-motivated to accomplish work responsibilities with minimal supervision and possess the skills and desire to advance to higher levels of responsibility within the core group or organization.


  • Must be able to attend work on a regular basis.
