AWS is seeking a candidate to be the Head - Worldwide Automotive Supply Chain and Manufacturing for our World Wide Specialist Team. The automotive industry is the midst of unprecedented transformation through changing business models, electrification, connected vehicles, autonomous driving and cloud enabled software development and is looking to the Cloud to power the transformation of products and business models. AWS is looking for a Go to Market Leader who understands business trends impacting the industry, and is passionate and capable of driving market development across the sector globally for AWS, leveraging the richness of the AWS cloud computing platform to position and drive the right technology solutions, cloud enable the technology ecosystem supporting the automotive industry, and address changing industry needs.
Your responsibilities will include engaging with key industry customers, engaging strategic industry partners, attending and speaking at industry events, leading the process to enable industry solutions, and creating significant new business opportunities for AWS. You will enable the AWS sales teams selling to industry accounts to drive their day-to-day interactions with key prospects. You will work closely with AWS Solutions Architects to develop and promote cloud patterns and solutions for the industry, including partner based solutions. You will work closely with the AWS product and services teams to help evolve AWS offerings for more rapid adoption by automotive industry customers.
The ideal candidate will have a business development or consulting background, experience in supply chain and manufacturing and experience in working with automotive industry customers at the COO/VP level, with a good understanding of legacy and emerging technologies in the automotive industry. He/she should have demonstrated operational and or IT experience designing and deploying solutions across the end to end supply chain either as former business owners of supply chain or in a senior consulting capacity working with OEM and/or Tier 1 automotive suppliers in supply chain and manufacturing. He/she should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must. Domain areas of expertise include most or some of the following:
- Planning: forecasting, demand planning, supply planning, integrated business planning Sourcing & Procurement: supplier B2B, eProcurement, supplier catalogues
- Supply Chain Network Strategy: manufacturing & distribution network S&OP Optimization, control towers, global trade
- Manufacturing: Manufacturing planning & execution, IoT enablement, sustainability
- Operations / Production; Inventory Management & Order Fulfilment: inventory strategy, segmentation, omni-channel, warehouse planning & operations, warranty, returns
- Logistics & Transportation: transportation planning & scheduling, route optimization, track & trace
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the World Wide Specialist team to drive overall AWS market and technical enablement strategy for the global automotive industry, focusing on developing supply chain workload opportunities.
- Define and execute on an annual strategic industry development plan including the development of new customer offerings. Ensure the plan is interlocked with the AWS strategic direction and in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales and geo teams, product teams, marketing, partner team, professional services, support, etc.).
- Identify and engage key supply chain and manufacturing partners including ISVs and global system integrators. Support the AWS Partner Network (APN) and key industry ISVs with their Digital Supply Chain solutions on AWS.
- Handle a high volume of customer engagements and interactions in a fast pace, high performing environment. Support presales activities for all automotive accounts including Global and Strategic, Enterprise, Greenfield, and SMB.
- Build business development pipeline by engaging with key prospects and partners. Conduct executive workshops with global supply chain leaders.
- Identify and scope digital supply chain solutions with measurable business results for our customers. Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with the internal development teams to guide the direction of our product offerings for the automotive industry.
- Document and communicate to senior management regarding successes, progress and roadblocks in expanding Cloud usage and share in the industry.
- 10+ Years in supply chain (spanning areas of planning, procurement, inventory management, manufacturing, fulfillment, transportation/logistics) planning, or other related fields.
- 7+ years in professional services or consulting in re-engineering of core processes to optimize the value chain.
- 7+ years direct experience in owning or creating supply chain strategies including conducting assessments, creating & selling associated business case, familiarity with make-to-stock & make-to-order strategies, supplier and procurement strategies, omni-channel and fulfillment strategies.
- Education: an MBA is desired. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Logistics.
- 5+ years in the manufacturing industry (both/or discrete and process manufacturing)
- Demonstrated understanding of industrial systems (e.g. SCADA, PLC, MES, inventory/warehouse, etc.)
- Relevant technologies such as SAP(ERP), B2B, Blue Yonder, WMS/Manhattan, Ariba/Coupa, AI/ML, IOT, Blockchain and Data Lakes
- 7+ years of experience in client related interactions (presentations, building relationships, structuring and providing program oversight, working with partners, statement of works/commercials exposure)
- Strong leadership skills are key, with proven verbal and written communications skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, and lead through influence.
- The right person will be analytical and data-driven, and demonstrate balanced strategy and planning, and execution skills.
This position must be located at one of our U.S. AWS Corp. offices with a preference for Seattle.
