Duties of the Border Violence Prosecutor include prosecution of criminal cases throughout the State of New Mexico from initiation to completion related to violent crimes involving foreign nationals or victims. It also requires conducting training for law enforcement, prosecutors and justice personnel related to border issues. Primary location will be in Albuquerque with travel as dictated by case assignments and training responsibilities. The Border Violence Prosecutor will seek criminal cases associated with complex extradition issues or involving criminals or victims of another country. The prosecutor will seek a timely and just resolution to those cases in the best interest of the victims or the community. The prosecutor should also expect to train law enforcement officers and other justice partners on complex extradition or border issues. To protect the citizens of New Mexico and vulnerable victims of violent crimes. Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law and four (4) years of experience in the practice of law. Must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license (Rules 15-301.1 and 15-301.2 NMRA). Must possess required licensure, certification or registration and required number of years of experience Valid New Mexico Driver's license.
