Associate System Administrator

Job summary: The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for an Associate System Administrator to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration of associate endpoints, primarily laptops, across the enterprise. You will partner with our senior technical administration team to troubleshoot a multitude of hardware and software technical issues, enforce asset configuration compliance, and perform application patching on endpoints. As an Associate System Administrator, you’ll need to have passion for customer service and support, a desire to collaborate, and a solid record of demonstrating initiative. You’ll work as part of a high-performing team to make a positive impact using your collaboration skills.Primary job responsibilities:- Work within IT closely with partner global enterprise support teams and information security to manage and maintain configuration standards, security baselines, and license compliance of all endpoints
- Provide support for all endpoint information technology services, including answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing associates regarding software or hardware functionality, and communicating policy
- Assist with the standard build of our corporate operating systems, including macOS, Windows, and Linux; ensure successful remote and physical laptop deployments and automated OS deployment tasks and document OS images for all platforms
- Assist with the development and maintenance of documentation and procedures for all aspects of endpoint configuration, installations, maintenance, and operations; provide input to technical standards and procedures
- Assist with deploying and managing saturation of third-party applications, Windows, Linux, and macOS patches
- Manage and report on endpoint clients for Windows, Linux, and macOS devices
- Troubleshoot technical issues; diagnose and work with third-party vendors as necessary to provide technical resolution
- Use available tools to generate asset management, client installation, and software inventory reports and dashboards
- Troubleshoot a multitude of issues across the wide range of applications and endpoint hardware for our internal customer base
- Leverage IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices within ticketing systems to manage all customer requests for technical support, projects, and asset and change management
- Contribute to the team’s planning meetings and provide input on system options, risks, and impacts on departmental processes and goals
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as required
Required skills:- Ability to support, configure, install, and patch Windows, macOS, or Linux - primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora - desktops and laptops
- Experience managing an automated, repeatable build for use by associates with a variety of job functions
- Experience writing technical documentation for consumption by multiple audiences, including both technical support associates and non-technical end users
- Experience providing Tier 3 escalation support for service desk associates
- Experience training users and support associates
- Ability to introduce new technical ideas and concepts to experienced IT associates and to form an opinion and back it up with sound logic and reason
- Experience working with an information security team on priority patching and general security of the build
- Ability to assist on special projects and emergency, business-critical outages when needed
- Scripting skills; Bash and Python are a plus
- Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Windows, macOS Support Essentials, and Red Certified Engineer (RHCE) certifications are a plus
