Description:The CH-53K Hangar Associate Manager is responsible for managing flight line and hangar operations at the customer's facility in Pax River, MD. The Flight Line Manager leads a team of supervisors and aircraft maintenance technicians who prepare the CH-53K aircraft for upcoming flight tests on a daily basis.
Aircraft preparation includes routine maintenance as well as modification/upgrade projects. This role is also responsible for all accompanying support equipment and materials and maintenance management programs.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Planning and executing department activities necessary to meet the goals of the department and company in accordance with established objectives, standards, and metrics.
- Meeting or exceeding business and program commitments for aircraft readiness, cost, schedule, and performance.
- Managing resource requirements to ensure customer demand is met.
- Leading by example to ensure applicable product quality, product safety, and workplace environmental, safety, and health requirements are met.
- Creating a work place environment where quality improvement tools are used effectively to achieve “world class” operations and enterprise excellence objectives.
- Interfacing with various functional and organizational leadership to ensure requirements are understood, met, or exceeded.
- Interfacing with human resources and union representatives on personnel and grievance issues.
- Interfacing with DoD personnel regarding onsite operations in Pax River.
- Managing department expense budget and flight line support equipment capital planning.
- Ensuring compliance with company and department policies and procedures.
- Coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
Basic Qualifications:
Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
- Must possess 10+ years of prior experience in an aircraft maintenance or manufacturing operations environment.
- Must possess general aviation knowledge.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and autonomously; prioritize based on company and customer demands. Self-starter who is resourceful and takes initiative. Capable of working efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization, customers, and governmental oversight organizations.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to deliver effective presentations internally to all levels of the organization and customers
- Must be customer focused and a team player.
- Must be enthusiastic with a positive outlook and possess a “can-do” work ethic.
- Must be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
- Must be able to work in small/large teams.
- Personal flexibility is required to support unusual working hours, extended work hours, and weekends.
Additional Information:
Work will be performed at the customer's facility in Patuxent River, MD. While working at Pax River, Sikorsky employees must follow operating procedures as established by the customer which include:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must currently have and/or be capable of obtaining a security clearance.
- Must currently have or be capable of successfully completing an NCIC criminal background check to access Pax NAS.
- Must currently have or be capable of obtaining full unescorted access Pax NAS.
- Must have a valid photo ID (driver's license + social security card or birth certificate OR US passport).
- Must have valid driver's license/vehicle insurance to drive on base at Pax NAS.
This position is dependent upon the anticipated duration of the CH-53K helicopter flight test program through final operational capability, currently planned no earlier than August 2023*. At the conclusion of the CH-53K flight test program, the employee may be offered the opportunity to relocate to the RMS Sikorsky West Palm Beach facility to support future flight test programs, pending business conditions.
- Based on test plan schedule.
This position is a 1st shift position but successful candidate must be willing to work any shift.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in airfield logistics and/or flight test, especially rotary-wing aircraft.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and energize the team.
- Demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills.
- Project management experience.
- Prior leadership experience; preferably leading hourly bargaining unit associates.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage aircraft modification and maintenance operations and achieve quality, schedule and cost objectives in a union environment.
