EAD is looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer to assist in providing engineering support for various industrial and commercial projects including: engineering calculations, power distribution, lighting design, controls design, and power analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
- Electrical design with primary responsibilities of power, lighting and controls per client requirements
- Provide studies of power quality, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
- Development of capital expenditure cost estimates for design/build projects
- Coordinating with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects, which often includes architects, mechanical, process, civil and structural engineers
- Work with designers and drafters to produce detailed designs
- Resolve design and development problems
- Work with a team to deliver quality construction documentation specifications, schematics, power and lighting plans, one-lines, etc.
- Interface with clients, utility companies, construction administrators, project team and vendors
- Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development
- Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
- Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 3 years experience in electrical design of industrial and commercial projects
- F.E. or commitment to obtain F.E. within first12 months required with desire to obtain Licensed Professional Engineer certification
- Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
- Possess organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
- Proven proficiency with AutoCAD current Software Release
- Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Certifications and Skills:
- Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards preferred
Working Conditions:
- Office, plant, or client site environment*
- Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
- May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
- Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
- Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
- Travel and/or field experience required
- EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment, as necessary.
