ABOUT THE JOB

The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Associate Digital Producer in the Digital Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.

The ACLU’s Digital team focuses on growing our existing audiences and acquiring new audiences by smartly using digital channels to reach and inspire them to take action. We create rich and compelling written, multimedia, and graphic design content that are used in key email, texting, social, merchandise, and paid media programs that help raise money, get our message out into the world, and mobilize existing and new supporters.

The Digital Production team drives a content publishing system that efficiently and effectively drives engagement with ACLU digital properties, including the national website, affiliate websites, YouTube and related digital properties.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Production, the Associate Digital Producer will produce and publish digital media content for ACLU platforms along with assist in project management of active work. Additionally, they help to ensure that the ACLU properties are leveraging the highest-performing content that engages and inspires our supporters and working effectively in representing affiliate and national needs on the platforms that comes under the Digital Production team’s ownership. The Associate Digital Producer will assist the team in special projects which include custom creation of microsites and pages for national or affiliate needs. The ideal candidate is passionate about the power and reach of web and mobile platforms. RESPONSIBILITIESKey Objectives for the Role:
  • Increase efficiency of the publishing process to aclu.org, YouTube, and affiliate template
  • Empower the organization to be data-driven in making content publishing choices
  • Ensure all content is optimized for online engagement especially for key traffic sources like search, paid media, social, and email-based traffic (SEO, social share, etc)
  • Prioritize and triage to focus on and meet organizational priorities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day needs of the ACLU’s CMS and publishing needs
  • Manage day-to-day work related to the ACLU’s CMS and publishing workflows. This includes being an expert on digital publishing workflows such that content is optimized for reach, quality and related digital best practices
  • Curates ACLU.org homepage and updates it based on rapid response moments, institutional priorities, etc
  • Publishes blog posts and other content as needed to ACLU websites including third-party platforms and affiliate sites
  • Works within the publishing request system to address content tasks in a timely manner
  • Advocate for improvements to the CMS and publishing capabilities with the ACLU’s in-house product & engineering team and vendors
  • Champions the growth of our email, text and social media lists by artfully pairing growth call-to-actions with the right content
  • Supports their team in devising strategies around A/B testing to maximize on site engagement & conversion
  • Advocates for critical bug fixes, enhancements and new features to the ACLU’s digital publishing system (based on Wordpress) for national and affiliate needs
  • Participates in rotating coverage schedule to ensure the site is covered during all proactive and reactive moments
  • Off-hours production and publishing work, as needed, for live coverage of high-priority events or “breaking news” moments.
  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS; Wordpress experience a plus
  • Ability to multi-task, perform well under pressure, and meet tight deadlines are essential
  • Ability to organize content in a clear and creative format to engage various audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Professional experience posting content online or to social media channels is desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with A/B testing practices and data analysis is preferred
COMPENSATION

The annual salary for this position is $72,141 (Level J). This salary is reflective of a position based in [New York, NY]. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
