Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Risk Management will directly lead a holistic evaluation of risk identification against the organization’s core business model and strategy. The incumbent is responsible for working across the organization to identify, mitigate and manage emerging strategic, financial, and operational risk related to member and team member safety, organizational reputation and optimization and retention of assets. The AVP, Risk Management will supervise the risk management team and facilitate discussion and solutions with key stakeholders to ensure achievement of risk management and operational initiatives and interpret loss trends, emerging issue trends, and risk management concerns.

Starting pay rate: $?111,292.00/Yr.

Religious and Medical Exemptions will be considered at time of hire.Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for the organization through critical evaluation and identification, mitigation, and program development to address existing and emerging, strategic, and operational risks.
  • Regularly identify and assess major emerging and strategic risk using models recognized by ERM best practices
  • Work with senior leadership to continue and improve upon established enterprise risk management process and evaluation.
  • Ensure safety, security and risk practices and policies are in alignment with generally accepted RM practices for operation risk mitigation
  • Ensures Association is compliant with legal and agency interests/requirements (e.g., insurance, Americans with Disabilities, OSHA, WISHA, YUSA and industry best practices, particularly in aquatics, abuse prevention).
  • Mitigate risk through contract review and establishing standard contractual language.
  • Provides oversight of risk management efforts in abuse prevention, emergency and disaster response, facility and employee safety and security, drowning prevention, driver and vehicle safety, and membership.
  • Leads incident investigations, claims management for members, clients, participants, and employee safety.
  • Leads the development of measurement and auditing tools and reviewing reports on risk management related performance and incident metrics. Analyzes data and ensures solutions and change are implemented.
  • Ensures process for auditing and verifying controls exist and are implemented with fidelity to mitigate identified risks.
  • Evaluates and establishes crisis management policies and practices in collaboration with other leaders to address emergencies involving natural disasters, accidents, and wrongdoing, as well as recovery from resulting property loss, data breach/loss and property loss.
  • Evaluates and manages insurance brokers and companies that provide insurance and safety services. Responsible for evaluating and recommending insurance-related coverage and limits.
  • Mitigate risks through contract review and establishing standard contractual language.
  • Manages a team of risk management specialists.
  • Act as liaison to outside legal resources as necessary.
  • Manages Insurance sub-committee meetings and Board.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.Qualifications:POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in enterprise risk management, safety and risk management or audit
  • Minimum of two years of supervision
  • Effective skills in the following areas: human relations, enterprise risk, diversity and inclusion, training, business management, loss prevention, planning, and organizing.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated process, systematic and detail orientation
  • Ability to maintain integrity of actions, processes and confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team and within a diverse group
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge in a Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience working in a matrix business environment
  • Prior experience working in a non-profit organization
