Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry (Tenure-Track) -
The Department of Chemistry and Physics at UofSC Aiken seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in physical chemistry (broadly defined) to start August 16, 2021. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and to undergraduate research. Within our ACS -certified degree programs, course responsibilities include Physical Chemistry I and II with labs and general chemistry. The teaching load for the position is 12 contact hours per semester, with a 9-month contract period.
The faculty member in this position will establish a productive research program within their area of expertise that involves undergraduate researchers. Start-up funding will be provided. State-of-the-art instrumentation is available through a combination of departmental equipment and easily-accessible UofSC system facilities. The department has partnerships with local industry and the Savannah River National Lab, allowing for collaborative research opportunities. Additionally, UofSC Aiken will be the home of DOE’s new $50 million Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative, with construction set to begin soon. Our departmental guidelines place chemical education research on an equal footing with research in traditional chemistry disciplines.

An earned doctorate in chemistry or an equivalent field by the start date is required. ABD candidates will be considered.
