Assistant Professor – General Dentist - Part-Time Details

Conduct teaching and patient care activities in the CDM Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) curriculum, as well as scholarly and service activities in support of the mission, goals and objectives of the College and University

Recognized knowledge and experience in a broad range of general dentistry diagnostic and treatment services.

Ability to effectively conduct detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent.

Active California dental license or be qualified to obtain licensure or faculty special permit in California.

Must have a valid Driver’s License
Must maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle Use Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
1Completion of a residency program in General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry

3-5 years of clinical practice experience.

Experience in supervising students and/or residents providing patient care in an academic setting.

Background in public health and community dentistry; comprehensive clinical experience spanning all ages (e.g. pediatric, geriatric, special health care needs); and experience in clinical practice and academics; and/or clinical research.

Working Hours M-F 8am to 5pm with some evenings and weekends. Will be required to travel to School Based site currently located in Pomona and El Monte but subject to change.

Teaching:
This position holds teaching responsibilities in Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) and as assigned. The faculty member will:

Assist in implementation and delivery of the CBDE and as assigned curriculum, provide clinical supervision and aid those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process.

Conduct preclinical and clinical assignments according to the published schedule.

Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.

Promote adequate standards of linguistic expression in writing and speech.

Maintain current records of the progress, including assessments, of each assigned student.

Assist with the implementation of the continuum of the dental students’ clinical experience from the foundational skills in the didactic curriculum to patient-centered care that integrates basic and behavioral science, as appropriate.

Serve as a role model and mentor for students.

Advise students regarding individual progress and provide resources for improvement as appropriate
