POSITION SUMMARY: Provide 24-hour direction and guidance to staff; participate in the delivery of patient care in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures. Assist the Nurse Manager in providing for effective departmental operations. She/he promotes the delivery of high quality patient care based on utilization of the nursing process and nursing standards at St Elizabeth Hospital. Must be competent to care for, assess and treat patients according to developmental needs. Provides an environment conducive to staff growth and development. Is accountable for management of human, fiscal, and other resources. Focuses on the delivery of high quality patient care. Supports the values and goals of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE:

• Current Professional Nursing Registration in New York State
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in clinical areas.
• Ability to function effectively with multi-disciplinary groups.
• BSN, Current CPR certification.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Previous managerial experience highly desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: High Risk. OSHA Exposure Category B

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull. Walking and standing most of the shift.
