This position must have agency underwriting credentials. This position is responsible for reviewing portfolio loans to be certain they are in compliance with our product descriptions. They will work closely with Origination staff and Member First Mortgage to build relationships and continually improve the credit union’s service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Develops relationships with origination staff and Member First Mortgage.
- Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, underwriting and general department guidelines.
- Assists Director or Mortgage Originations when needed by working with originators to manage pipeline, obtain required documentation and/or scheduling closing.
- Assists with educating and training loan processors on documentation needed and investor criteria.
- Responsible for reviewing documentation quality and compliance of portfolio files.
- Ensure that mortgage lending procedures are in accordance with established credit union policies
- Makes recommendations for loan/credit options based on analyzing applicants’ financial status and credit based on the presented information.
- Stays current on CUO portfolio criteria.
- Stays current on loan underwriting system and other software needed to complete the loan origination.
- Assist with production reporting and tracking.
- Remains educated on all regulatory and internal credit union requirements in relation to underwriting mortgage loans.
- Coaches and trains mortgage originators and Credit Union ONE staff regarding products, services, systems, processes and compliance related matters.
- Maintain Loan Officer Appointment and Authority and NMLS.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferable with emphasis business administration or finance.
- Minimum of three years of mortgage underwriting/processing experience.
- Maintains good standing with federal registration rules and regulations as determined by the Safe Act.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Intermediate computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
- Intermediate experience with mortgage origination/underwriting systems.
- Must be a Notary or obtain designation within 3 months of obtaining position.
