HUBS Assistant Manager lead with great energy and comprehensive understanding of good business practice during each and every shift to make HUBS a great place for our employees and our patrons alike. In this role, you will learn all aspects of our business so you can become established and valued in the role as Assistant Manager.

An Assistant Manager will lead, motivate and help employees so they can produce excellent product quality and exceptional customer service. You will help build sales and control costs for each shift and uphold policies and procedures with vital areas of focus including but not limited to:

General Overview
  • Train and coach HUBS Team.
  • Know, enforce, and educate on all of the appropriate personnel/procedural policies, labor laws, and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to the hiring and retention of Team.
  • Effectively schedule Team shifts and manage hours.
  • Effectively handle customer complaints and make General Manager & Owner aware of issues, how they were handled and if any issues still needed resolution.
  • Maintain critical standards for raw versus finished product, swiftness of service and quality, cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary environment by assigning daily cleaning duties, weekly deep clean with logs and follow-ups.
  • Properly execute, enforce and manage all food safety requirements and practices.
  • Enforce and maintain uniform policy.
  • Manage “back-of-the-house” [kitchen] to ensure standards are met.
  • Control assigned P&L line items.
  • Control food components, labor, waste, and cash across shifts.
  • Count drawers and ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for daily & weekly update of prep sheets.
  • Maintain all food pars/amounts and appropriate inventory for General Manager to place orders accordingly.
Physical Aspects of Position
  • Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 50 to 55 hours a week.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 9-10 hours per day and sit for 30 minutes - 1 hour per day.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to five hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 - 60 pounds throughout week.
  • Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments (i.e. kitchen, freezers, etc.)
  • Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from customers, employee traffic and machines.
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume, customer-focused restaurant through organization and coordination of schedules, problem-solving, maintaining cleanliness, training employees, execution of marketing plans and providing great customer service to all patrons.
Experience & Education Required
  • Minimum of at least 2 years of management experience in either a restaurant or retail environment.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to work for a minimum of one year at Hubs.
  • High School degree; Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Preferred: 2nd (speaking) language (Spanish, Greek, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Assyrian etc.)
  • As a requirement of the position, all Shift Supervisors and Managers must be trained and pass a Food Safety Certification course. In Illinois, certification is required through the Illinois Department of Public Health. Should the Manager fail to pass the certification requirements after two attempts, he or she will be not be qualified to continue to perform in a Shift Supervisor or Management capacity.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in English via verbal and written communication, such that employee can perform his/her job responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume, customer-focused restaurant through organization and coordination of schedules, supervision, counseling & discipline of employees, problem-solving, maintaining cleanliness, execution of marketing plans, training employees and providing great customer service.
  • Ability to maintain deadlines and prioritize while running an effective shift.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
