JOB TITLE: Assistant General Manager

A. PURPOSE
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will support the General Manager by maintaining, directing, and contributing to the day-to-day operations of the store with a large emphasis in inventory management and customer service. The AGM supports the General Manager in developing strategies and objectives toward driving store sales and profitability, directly manages all personnel and partners with the shift manager to ensure staff are trained and customer service goals are being met. Additionally, the AGM works closely with the category manager to monitor inventory, manage product turnover, and stay current on product trends.
B. JOB DUTIES
Handle customer complaints and resolves problems with the customer in an efficient and professional manager in line with the Company and ACE hardware standards.
Possess excellent product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
Conducts daily huddles with all staff, to keep employees aware of store goals and progress, promotions, events, and operational needs.
Develop, establish, and uphold strict organizational standards in stock rooms, receiving areas, side yards breakrooms, offices, company vehicles and other employee only areas.
Ensures the staff is trained, motivated, presentable, and punctual through accountability of the shift managers.
Ensures the store is clean, in-stocked and recovered at all times. This includes arranging merchandise in an appealing manner and building product displays to enhance the customer experience.
Assist and collaborates with General Manager (GM) to conduct all employee reviews Including providing timely feedback
Identify opportunity and develop a course of action plan to alleviate the overstock and obsolete inventory in collaboration with the GM as to best execution. May need to also collaborate with Category Manager
Maintain a work balance of 80 percent floor with employee and 20 percent administration work.
Meets regularly with all other store AGM/GMs to discuss, financials, operations, human capital, and facilities.
Meets weekly with GM and shift managers to discuss financials including increase in sales, operations, human capital, and inventory management.
Primarily responsible for directing the associates and shift managers’ performance throughout the day.
Provides clear and prioritized direction to shift managers regarding inventory accuracy responsibilities and deadlines including weekly for high end items.
Provides feedback to GM regarding schedules to provide optimal service and meet operational and financial goals.
Recommends and follows up on store maintenance items to facilities in collaboration with the GM.
Responsible for a thorough understanding, execution, and implementation of AWOR best practices.
Clearly understands all company and store policies, processes, and procedures and ensuring and enforcing such policies and procedures.
Works with General Manager to develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability.
During absence of GM, in charge of the store and authority to make necessary decisions to operate the store including supervising of employees.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training in industry and required training through ACE Hardware.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
Minimum of one-year management experience required
Previous experience as a shift lead, AGM, or other equivalent position
Aware of retail product and merchandising trends
Strong and Effective communication with varied audience with clear and concise directives
Excellent leadership, negotiating, planning and organization skills
Exemplifies professional presence in appearance and demeanor
Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel required
Strong team working skills with the ability to lead up to 30 employees
Financial and budget understanding and knowledge?of retail operations, desired but not required

E. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work in heated and/or?air-conditioned indoor setting?including in a warehouse
Ability to work fluctuating hours during peak seasons or as business necessitates
Ability to work other positions as needed to fill business needs and cover shifts for other employees
