About the role

Chime's Legal team seeks a head of litigation. In this role, you will manage inquiries from regulators and respond to litigation claims. You also will help develop Chime's litigation strategy and design processes to scale the function. The position requires good judgment, strong communication, and relationship-building skills. This is a great opportunity to work on exciting fintech issues in a collegial environment and to help grow our Legal team. You will report into the Assistant General Counsel.

This job cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Develop and implement Chime's litigation strategy.
  • Manage various litigation matters for Chime across a range of practice areas, including financial regulatory enforcement.
  • Track, investigate, prepare evidentiary presentations, attempt to settle, and, where necessary, litigate lawsuits, enforcement actions, and regulatory investigations.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Chime.
  • Work closely with other members of the Legal team and cross-functional teams.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 10+ years litigation experience across multiple practice areas, including financial regulatory enforcement.
  • Prior in-house experience building a team, scaling a function, and managing.
  • Trial experience in a variety of subject matters.
  • Experience managing and successfully resolving litigation, including financial regulatory enforcement actions.
  • The ability to manage expanding litigation practice, including using outside counsel strategically and efficiently.
  • The ability to work collegially, on tasks large and small, in a fast-paced environment.
  • JD from accredited law school required. Member of a US state bar in good standing.
