The Defensive Coordinator will be responsible for the positive development of all aspects the defense of a NCAA Division II football program. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop a competitive defense, recruit quality student athletes of good character, be committed to student athlete academic success, and have excellent communication, and organizational skills. Strict adherence to NCAA Division II and MEC rules is required. This position will report to the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics. Salary is commensurate with background and experience. Duty/Responsibility Effectively assists in recruiting qualified student athletes to participate in the men’s athletic program. Effectively promotes Concord University academic and athletic programs to potential students. Ensuring that players associated with the football program are eligible under NCAA and MEC regulations. Assisting the Head Coach in developing and implementing clinic(s) and summer camp(s), and effectively monitoring student athlete academic progress; referring or counseling where appropriate, and motivating the athlete. Establishing and maintaining good personal relationships with student athletes, staff, the community and the media. % of Time Minimum Education Required Licenses/Certification Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Required Skills Excellent communication, management and organizational skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as the demonstrated ability to adhere to such regulations. Basic computer skills. This is a .92 FTE, eleven-month position. Master’s degree preferred. Progressively responsible collegiate coaching experience preferred. This position will report to the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics. Salary is commensurate with background and experience.
