Assistant Facility Security Officer

Job Description: Dewberry has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Facility Security Officer to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.
Under direction of the Chief Compliance & HR Officer and the Facility Security Officer, this person will be responsible for providing overall day-to-day support in implementing security policy and procedures to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program and other government security regulations.
As the Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO), you will provide onsite support for all security activities at Dewberry’s headquarters office and serve as the liaison with US Government and IS counterparts, conduct security briefings and debriefings, monitor classified controlled areas, support site classified visits, prepare and review documentation, to include System Security Plans (SSPs), receive and prepare DD254 for subcontractors, and perform periodic self-inspections, as well as manage all personnel clearance actions for Dewberry.

Responsibilities: - Plan, initiate, manage, and be accountable for all aspects of the physical, information, Special Access Programs, training, classification management, operations and personnel security functions for the operating facility in support of both internal and external customers
- Ensure compliance with government NISPOM and company security policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the Security Program
- Perform all administrative security support requirements associated with the receipt, transmission, inventory, reproduction, disposition, and management of SAP material
- Comply with Communications Security (COMSEC) requirements for the receipt, custody, issue, safeguarding, accounting and destruction of COMSEC material and in full compliance with all Government policies, manuals, procedures and changes.
- Work with Operations to ensure compliance with contract/subcontract security requirements
- Work closely with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other government agencies for contract and site/facility compliance
- Implement effective security training, to include initial, refresher and continuing education programs, Operational Security (OPSEC), Insider Threat programs, Foreign Travel programs, Standard Practice Procedures (SPP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- All Security duties required to manage a successful Security Program that provides excellent Customer Support and Security Services to all internal and external customers
- Provide additional enterprise-wide support for the facility security program as appropriate
Required Skills & Required Experience: - 5 or more years of experience working in corporate and government environments as a Facility Security Officer (FSO) or Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO)
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Extensive knowledge of NISPOM, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) policies and other DoD Security regulations.
- US Citizen and holds a Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and have requisite FSO training.
- DoD security management experience in handling, storing, accounting, reporting, and destroying classified materials
- Ability to interface effectively with Senior Management, DoD Officials, Subcontractors and Customers.
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Knowledge of industrial security administration, contracts, and government databases using/applying US government online programs that include, but are not limited to: Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Electronic Questionnaire for Investigations (e-QIP), Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT), and National Industrial Security System (NISS).
- Experience interpreting and authoring DD 254s, Security Classification Guides, and other areas of security-related contract management.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to internal and external customers and able to offer experienced guidance to executive staff and subcontractors.
- Experience conducting internal audits, participating in Government vulnerability assessments, investigating and mitigating areas of risk or non-compliance, pre-employment employee vetting, and security-relevant RFP review.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience drafting policies and presentations for management on security
- DCSA FSO certifications, SPeD or other security certifications a plus.
