Job Summary
The Assistant Director of the Walter A. Robinson Welcome Center (WARWC) Recruitment Services independently performs full-range of responsibilities providing leadership and direction for broad area of recruitment, communications, WARWC operations, and analysis. Possesses broad knowledge and provides leadership, program management and supervision for programs such as the Campus Tour Program, Student Ambassador Council, and WARWC management. Analyses problems and determines solutions. Assesses service delivery success and develops short and long-term strategic plans. Utilizes experience in recruitment and admissions to ensure good relationships with the public, special guests, dignitaries, educational institutions, and outreach and recruitment units. Tailors WARWC recruitment services to meet the diversity initiatives of UC Davis and the UC system. Uses extensive knowledge of admissions requirements to develop presentations to visiting groups and provide advising to the walk-in public. Develops and enhances public service delivery from the WARWC. Recruits, selects, trains and supervises 100+ student tour guide ambassadors and student ambassador council members. Develops special projects both in-person, virtual on-line, social media and phone projects. Participates in presenting academic programs and admissions requirements through outreach and recruitment efforts where bi-lingual schools request off-site visits. Fiscal oversight managing a $325,000 annual budget.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- THIS POSITION IS BASED IN DAVIS, CA
- Works evenings and weekends sometimes on short notice, to meet the operational needs.
- Based on Davis Campus.
- Requires some travel, including overnight and weekends, in state and nationally as need arise

Minimum Education/Experience:
- Experience in conceptualizing and managing operations for large, complex multi-facet projects, programs, facilities, events, and activities.
- Experience demonstrating strong leadership, setting goals, position recruitment, training and development, work assessment, work assignment, motivating staff, teambuilding, performance evaluation, corrective/disciplinary action, mediation and conflict resolution of a large, productive 2 service unit of career and student staff.
- Advanced experience developing recruitment programs, applying innovative solutions to enhance programs, analyze and revise programs.
- Experience giving public presentations, writing and presenting proposals and trainings to large and small diverse audiences. Experience overseeing budgetary allocations, approving or denying requests for funds, analyze, interpret and evaluate statistical data, develop goals and objectives to stay within budget.
- Experience researching, identifying, and validating student activities and public service programs to interpret data and determine program effectiveness, prepare reports of findings, and make recommendations for improving services.
- Experience providing admissions policies, procedures and programs to a diverse audience of varying social, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience with computers and utilizing programs and software for work processing, spreadsheets, electronic management systems, student database management systems, reservation systems and on-line meetings and webinars.
- Experience recruiting and advising students or prospective students in a university setting.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive management/administrative issues.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with diverse student populations.
- Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, curricula admissions requirements, and financial aid programs at colleges/universities and specifically UC.
- Demonstrated skill to understand, analyze, interpret, evaluate, articulate and apply federal/state/university rules, regulations and policies.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and timelines and to adapt constantly shifting priorities and outcomes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or extensive work experience in the field of higher education or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience advising and communicating with high school and community college students to create transfer educational plans.
- Experience with fundamental higher education academic program principles and standards (e.g., recruitment, admissions, registration, financial aid, gift acceptance, etc.) to make effective judgments and take appropriate action.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of campus and UC system-wide admission practices; academic programs, and student services.
- In-depth knowledge of UC and campus procedures affecting programs and student issues.
- Bi-lingual interpersonal communication skills to collaborate and interact with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and perspectives; conduct bi-lingual admissions presentations.
