Overview: The Assistant Director of Pharmacy works closely with the Senior Director of Pharmacy to support the goals and vision of the service line. The Assistant Director oversees the operations of assigned areas, including directing pharmacy activities, planning for new services/technology/automation, continuously improving services to meet customer and patient needs, and coordinating with other professional services within the institution to ensure safe medication dispensing, distribution, customer service and patient care. This position is responsible for all personnel functions for their areas of assigned responsibility. The Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight for training, education, and competency of pharmacy staff and College of Pharmacy students on rotation. This position will serve as subject matter expert in the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures and will participate in staff development, cost containment, and continuous quality improvement activities. Alternatively, this position will provide oversight, direction, and responsibility for these activities through pharmacy managers or supervisors. The Assistant Director will promote staff engagement and great customer service. This position will assist the Senior Director of Pharmacy with budgeting and finances as it pertains to their area. They represent the department by serving on committees and attending meetings as assigned.
