The Assistant Director of Administrative Services (ADAS) is responsible for the oversight of payroll and human resources, as well as the financial management of a variety of funds including State, foundation and sponsored research. The Department of Economics currently has approximately 200 active appointments which includes tenure and professional track faculty, staff, graduate assistants, hourly students, non-paid visitors and affiliates. The ADAS will oversee the maintenance of complete and accurate personnel files and records, and manage and approve all payroll and related HR processes for the department including all PHR and e-Terps transactions. The ADAS prepares monthly accounting reports for all Department accounts, documents all revenues and expenses, and resolves discrepancies. This position will lead the management of sponsored projects for the Department and will be in charge of all pre and post award grant administration activities. This includes but is not limited to proposal development assistance, proposal routing, account reconciliation and financial reporting. The ADAS supervises and mentors one staff member and reports directly to the Department’s Director of Administrative Services. Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.): Experience: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Masters degree preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required.
At least 4 years experience working in an office environment specific to administrative and/or financial management (i.e., accounting, payroll, and procurement) required.
Familiarity and understanding of grants management. Must be proficient using spreadsheet software. Must have good judgment, be customer-service oriented, be attentive to details, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
