Assistant Controller Details

Primary Function:The Assistant Controller will participate in a broad range of financial functions from both a strategic and hands-on perspective and will provide both operational and programmatic support to the organization.
Job Scope and Major Responsibilities:


  • Directly manage and oversee the day-to-day operational finance and accounting activities ensuring integrity of financial information
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Prepare financial statements including managing the processing, validation, and reconciliation of accounting transactions and play critical role in the month-end close process
  • Play key role in annual audit, including interacting with external auditors and supporting the creating, review, and editing of financial statements
  • Provide specific guidance on accounting issues within the accounting department
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the accountants and accounts payable personnel; Train and support the accounting staff.
  • Develop financial tools, analyses, and metrics in support of business strategies; Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports
  • Identify best practices to form recommendations and implement solutions to meet changing business needs
  • Business partnering with executive team to provide recommendations and initiatives to drive corporate performance and business plans
  • Deliver high-quality and high-impact solutions to the senior leadership team by identifying key issues, defining appropriate work structure, providing active quality control, and driving workable recommendations that create value
  • Direct accountability or supervision of A/P, A/R, payroll accounting oversight, business liability and workers compensation insurances
  • The position may require attendance at various conferences for networking amongst industry peers, while working collaboratively with Asembia sales, Client Account and operational team members.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of a BS; a CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • At least five years prior accounting experience
  • Experience partnering with other staff resulting in the development & implementation of creative financial management strategies
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks is essential
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills
