Job Description

House of Design LLC, a robotics system integrator in Nampa, Idaho, is seeking exceptional individuals who can immediately impact our efforts to assemble and test operation of cutting-edge automated solutions. Preferred candidates for these full-time positions will bring enthusiasm and insight as new, or experienced mechanical/electrical technicians contributing to our innovative and growing business. We are an award-winning ABB Robotics Value Provider and Cognex Machine Vision System Integrator. We build small robotic systems to completely integrated production lines for many different manufacturing industries utilizing ABB industrial robots.

Candidates with direct experience building or maintaining industrial machines and automation, especially in an R&D environment, will be given priority scheduling for interviews. Individuals with controls and high voltage electrical experience are also highly sought after.

New graduates from mechanical or electrical engineering programs at ABET accredited universities are invited to apply as an entry into the world of robotics automation. House of Design promotes from within, and the Assembly Technician Team is often tapped as the “farm team” for openings in engineering disciplines within the organization.

Successful candidates must be both technical and creative with the ability to execute, from supporting assembly of prototypes and test fixtures and rapid prototyping through the collaborative assembly of production-ready machinery.

The House of Design (HoD) Assembly Technician I and II positions are generally defined as entry-level to 3 or more years of machine /automation equipment assembly experience. These positions typically include individuals that are new to robotics and automated systems that have an Associate degree from a mechanical or electrical trade school. The Assembly Technician positions require a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical components and theory of operation. Must be able to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly drawings, blueprints, specifications, and parts lists
  • Gathers parts, sub-assemblies, tools, and material for the job and assembles components according to drawing
  • Inspect components for dimensional accuracy utilizing blueprints/drawings and applicable metrology equipment
  • Resolve assembly difficulties by working with engineering and systems integration to implement solutions
  • Verifies specifications and tests assemblies and sub-assemblies ensuring correct operation and function
  • Install and test electrical control components, Input/output devices, sensors, and associated cabling
  • Dismantle robotic integration systems and organize, package, and palletize for safe shipment to the customer site
  • Prepare parts and robotic components for shipment, load and offload freight shipment utilizing a forklift
  • Install and test robotic systems in customers facilities, worldwide, as part of the installation team
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, shop rules, and regulations
  • Work within and promotes HoD vision, mission, and values of the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), Associates degree or trade school certification preferred
  • Must have a positive attitude, desire to learn and acute attention to detail, must be a team player
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be part of a collaborative team to solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints/drawings and electrical schematics
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to adapt to varying projects and priorities daily
  • Ability to manage small-scale projects from initial concept to completion
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal team and external clients
  • Must have basic computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite recommended
  • Ability to safely drive and operate a forklift, previous forklift operator certification a plus
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required to support shop, engineering, and integration teams
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive movement, reaching (including but not limited to above shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning, and twisting.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds in accordance with HoD safe work practices
