Description: Fast paced high-risk OB office located on the campus of UT Medical Center is currently looking for a full-time Appointment Scheduler.
RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Scheduling of new and established patient appointments for multiple locations
  • Knowledge of specific insurance requirements
  • Complete information in the computer including patient demographics and detailed insurance data
  • Completing tasks timely, completely and correctly
  • Documents appropriate information in scheduling program
  • This position requires the employee to make every effort to remain a flexible, cooperative and supportive member of the staff; act as a liaison between other departments within the office; and maintain friendly open lines of communication
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
  • Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned
  • Present a friendly and positive attitude when answering phones
  • Forwarding of calls to appropriate team members/departments

DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Keeps all patient information, practice information and staff information confidential
  • Performs routine work under general supervision
  • Follows established procedures, referring all new or unusual questions/concerns
  • Acts as patient advocate, ensuring a setting that protects the rights of the patient, in compliance with HIPAA, and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patient’s physical or mental well-being, safety or dignity
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, established policies and procedures

. Requirements:

  • Previous medical office experience including appointment scheduling and operation of multi-line telephone system
  • Good reading comprehension and ability to clearly communicate with patients and other facilities
  • Able to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians and fellow staff
