Battelle is seeing an Application Support Specialist II. The position is located in Columbus, OH.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, trouble-shoots, tests, defines requirements, analyzes, designs, and/or implements moderately complex computer-based information systems for Battelle business/management functions. This Application Support Specialist is primarily responsible for handling Tier 2 support requests related to customer issues with Enterprise Software like Deltek Costpoint. Using his/her knowledge of the application, as well as outstanding customer service skills, this professional provides escalated support via phone, chat, and email for Application Support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs trouble-shooting, research, knowledge base, and fact-finding to develop or maintain computer-based information systems. Escalates issues as appropriate.
  • Performs system analysis and design following supported guidelines and procedures to correct or help correct problems discovered when monitoring, trouble-shooting, or to make enhancements to a system.
  • Designs and develops SQL code for trouble-shooting, special queries and reports.
  • Designs, codes, upgrades, tests, debugs, and documents information systems. Provides expertise in the implementation and integration of enterprise applications as appropriate. Maintains and documents information systems. Maintains effective vendor relationships.
  • Follows approved change management policies and procedures.
  • Assists with coordination and installation of application programs.
  • Provides support and training to business and research users, including “on-call” support as required.
  • Works on projects within CIT, as required.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
  • Maintains and enhances current professional and technical knowledge, contributes to team effort, and secures client confidence to provide quality service.
  • Clearly documents all customer interactions via case tracking system based on current policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to knowledge base content creation and may manage or review content contributed by others.
  • Works as point of contact with Development, Service Line Management, and other department resources to resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi task and effectively organize tasks based on priority.
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field; 2 years of experience in the IT field; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must be skilled at effectively communicating the technical findings or recommendations to a non-technical audience; skilled at producing concise and accurate written documentation.
  • Must be US Person
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
  • Proven experience working with IT service desks and track record of excellence with problem resolution through independent troubleshooting and teamwork.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships; applies courtesy, tact and discretion; uses interpersonal skills to build alliances to achieve objectives.
  • Accounting, technical and/or functional knowledge needed to provide support for escalated or higher complexity issues.
  • Knowledge of primary product (responsibility (i.e Costpoint) or a strong knowledge of secondary product areas (i.e. General Accounting: GL, AP, AR, etc.)
