Matrix Absence Management is one of the top Third Party Administrators (TPA) supporting clients in absence management (FMLA/Disability/Workers' Compensation) . We partner with our clients Human Resources department to manage Workers' Compensation, Disability and/or Leave of absences until the claim is resolved or the employee returns to work. Our highly customer centric approach is to try and duplicate the culture of our clients to make the experience seamless for employees. Our mobile app technology provides ease of use to our client and employee in reporting claim information.

RSL / Matrix is a subsidiary of Delphi Financial Group based in NYC, which as of 2012 is owned by Tokio Marine (Japan's oldest property/casualty insurance firm).

Our team is looking for a talented API Architect to be part of the Matrix Platform team. We build enterprise class, 24x7, hosted solutions to service hundreds of thousands of end-users. As an API Architect, you will be leading to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Matrix Platform’s web services directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers. At Matrix, you will work alongside Enterprise Architects, DevOps, Software Engineers and Product Owners in an agile environment building modern software solutions at scale.

Essential Functions & Qualifications
  • Provide architecture thought leadership and expertise.
  • Define reference and implementation architectures.
  • Produce technology road-maps in support of IT’s vision and strategy.
  • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes and initial implementation models.
  • Monitor implementation activity to ensure architecture and design principles are upheld.
  • Coach and mentor Staff
  • Establish relationships with IT leaders, and cross functional leadership to ensure business solutions are meeting business goals

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar area of concentration
  • 7+ years of experience as an API architect with hands on experience leading large scale technology modernization projects
  • Provides the architectural leadership in shaping strategic technology programs using API first approach
  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills
  • Passion for building scalable, secure and performance based applications
  • Experience with API Gateways
  • Experience with any service mesh technology for advanced micro services management
  • Experience with any Service registry/repository for discoverability
  • Expert level experience implementing API Service architectures (e.g., REST)
  • Expert level experience with API design standards, patterns, best practices (e.g., Swagger, Microservices etc.)
  • Expert level experience with applying security best practices to API platforms (e.g., OAuth, TLS, throttling, etc.)
  • Strong hands on experience with languages like Java, Python, and JavaScript
  • Experience with AWS technologies and services such as S3, DynamoDB, EC2, EMR, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Lambda, Glue ETL, etc.
  • Experience working in a PaaS, SaaS and IaaS environment
  • Experience with OWASP and secure coding best practices
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect (Associate or Professional) preferred
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)
