Position Title: Analyst, Evaluation and Learning

Status: Full-time, exempt

Salary: An amount in the beginning of the pay range, $47,000 - $52,000 annually, with consideration given for experience above the minimum requirements.

How You'll Help Mile High United Way's mission is to unite people, ideas, and resources to advance the common good. Annually, Mile High United Way serves more than 250,000 low-income individuals in the Metro Denver area and statewide through a wide range of community services and programs. The Evaluation and Learning (E L) team leads Mile High United Way's effort to evaluate the impact of the organization's programs and strategies. Working across all levels of the organization, the E L team creates the structures and culture of data-driven practice in order to improve our strategies and maximize impact. The role will provide critical support in monitoring and evaluating programmatic progress and impact. This position is responsible for co-developing a client-friendly data tracking system, managing and analyzing program data, ensuring data quality, and assisting with reporting on key metrics of success and other team functions.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage, enter and analyze program-related data across Mile High United Way (MHUW) programs, including:

Assist the E L team in the development of a data storage and analysis system consistent across all MHUW programs.

Build, maintain and run reports and dashboards in Salesforce and other platforms to support program monitoring.

Develop, document and implement data quality procedures.

Perform data analysis to identify patterns and trends that help guide program decision-making.

As appropriate, include data visualization in written evaluation reports, MHUW annual reports and MHUW impact reports.

Provide technical assistance and support to program staff in managing, collecting, and using program data.

Serve as a thought partner with program teams and other departments within MHUW.

Regularly assist the E L team with reviewing and populating data tracking tools, e.g., the CID Community Scorecard, Salesforce dashboards, etc.

Assist the E L team with developing evaluation methodologies and tools e.g., surveys, focus groups, informant interviews, internal evaluation learning plans, and evaluation sections of programmatic document.

Assist the E L team with presenting evaluation findings or evaluation topics internally and externally.

Assist the E L team with collecting and analyzing community-level secondary data - e.g., Census data.

Assist the E L team with the grant application and grant reporting process, including:

Track timing and specifics of grant deliverables.

Maintain consistent communications with the grant team.

Provide the E L team and program teams with timely and relevant grant updates.

Assist with writing evaluation sections of grant proposals and grant reports.

Conduct literature reviews and summarize said literature into a brief report or annotated bibliography.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist the E L team in facilitating internal and external learning opportunities, including but not limited to: After Action Reviews, quarterly programmatic debriefs, data collection quality control trainings, Strengthening the Nonprofit Sector quarterly sessions, and journey mapping.

Support the E L team in developing public-facing evaluation and research briefs pertinent to MHUW's community priority areas.

Represents E L internally and externally to convey the standards, values, and rigor of the team and organization.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree equivalent level of experience required; Master's Degree preferred in a Social Sciences field preferred

Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in a data analysis/management and evaluation or research role, including:
Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel to clean, organize, analyze, and visualize data;

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and other project management tools and databases; and

Demonstrated ability to work professionally both independently and as part of a team in order to manage multiple tasks, set own goals and establish priorities in a timely manner.


Demonstrated relevant research, programmatic or evaluation experience from coursework, an internship or a professional setting.

Knowledge and relevant evaluation experience within a nonprofit setting preferred.

Beginner to Intermediate Spanish speaking or writing ability preferred.

Experience building reports and dashboards in Salesforce preferred.

Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software preferred.

Experience with SPSS and/or NVivo or other quantitative and qualitative data software preferred.

Excellent communication and writing skills.

Professional, respectful, highly organized, detail oriented.
