Job Description

Eisai is implementing a unique model for the potential launch of aducanumab in the US – one that focuses on alignment on planning and consistency in execution so that appropriate patients gain access to aducanumab treatment in an efficient and productive process at launch, consistent with our hhc mission. Primary care physicians will play critical role in the successful launch of aducanumab and future innovative AD therapies. The vast majority of mild cognitive impairment and AD patients, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, currently reside in primary care offices. Early identification of AD patients is critical to maximizing the potential of new AD therapies to improve long-term patient outcomes in Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Market Development Professional (MDP) is responsible for educating the non-prescribing primary care physicians (PCPs) and their staff on the screening, identification, diagnosis, and referral of appropriate patients to AD specialists. This will be achieved by in-person interactions and/or through remote detailing. By managing AD education in their respected territory, the MDP is the territory business owner responsible for executing tactics to ensure the effective education of their assigned customers while conveying Eisai’s human health care mission ( hhc ). The MDP will be required to be an expert on all aspects of Alzheimer’s disease, our co-promoted product, and the competitive landscape in which they will represent Eisai. They will build and develop professional relationships with appropriate HCPs, office staff, and other healthcare professionals and be expected to work cross-functionally while adhering to all of Eisai’s ethics and compliance standards.

Alzheimer’s Market Development Professional Responsibilities

  • Achieve KPI goals and drive effective education of Alzheimer’s disease and assigned products through effective use of the Eisai Selling Model, creating and maintaining an effective plan, and precise execution of brand strategies; including effective and compliant utilization of available resources (i.e. approved marketing materials, educational lunches, speaker programs)
  • Collaborate with other Eisai team field-based and home office personnel teams to proactively develop strategies that address customer needs, local market dynamics and trends, and support brand and corporate objectives
  • Develop deep knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, local and regional market trends, disease state, product, and competitor knowledge. Leverage expertise and knowledge to anticipate and effectively manage business opportunities and challenges with HCPs in assigned geography
  • Ensure individual compliance with Eisai policies and procedures
  • Engage and influence key customers to establish a strong organizational presence and build upon the history of Eisai in the Alzheimer’s marketplace
  • Demonstrate awareness, understanding, and adherence to all industry and company regulations and guidelines; apply these standards across all business operations to ensure compliance with our company and industry policies (i.e. policies/procedures, resource utilization, sales and account data, etc.)
  • Cultivate a culture of high performance with emphasis on accountability, drive for results, compliance and collaboration
  • Implement best practice sharing across the Alzheimer’s teams to maximize efforts
  • Provide both formal and informal updates to the Alzheimer’s franchise on the progress against defined KPI attainment, post-launch

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (BA, BS or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 3+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience required
  • Buy & bill, medical device and/or biologics experience is a plus
  • Additional commercial function experience a plus (i.e. sales training, marketing, managed markets, sales/business analytics, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance & regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated success in delivering results and driving growth and profitability, establishing strong partnerships, leveraging market and customer insights, strategic and tactical planning
  • Expertise in U.S. healthcare industry; including the understanding of delivery of care, the market access and reimbursement landscape, and key stakeholders that influence decision making within local markets and healthcare systems
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships with the proven ability to network and build strong relationships with customers
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to think strategically and creatively to achieve goals, influence, meet, and adapt to changing needs of the healthcare industry, Alzheimer’s franchise, and the external customers we support
  • Strong business acumen and problem solving ability, ability to analyze quantitative data and extract essential elements to build territory business plans and provide clear direction and feedback on how to achieve the desired results
  • Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while maintaining direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail, salesforce automation and customer management databases, formulary software and applications (i.e. FTF), digital communication platforms
  • Ability to safely, legally and successfully operate a motor vehicle is required
  • When necessary, travel overnight including within territory and to conferences, training and sales meetings
