Math teachers at Urban Prep provide students with special needs with a rigorous, high quality and engaging academic experience. Achieving academic excellence requires that teachers work collaboratively with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Department Chair to effectively communicate expectations to students, parents, members of the community, and colleagues from across our network of schools. Math teachers report to the Principal, Assistant Principal and Department Chair.
Responsibilities:
- Know, understand, and incorporate the principles established in the Urban Prep Creed and promote the 8 Core Values of Urban Prep in all aspects of work and when interacting with students and colleagues.
- Monitor and collect evidence of student progress to support preparation of IEP quarterly progress reports.
- Provide information regarding the student’s present level of academic achievement and functional performance and progress as it relates to academics, behavior, and social interactions with peers.
- Create a positive, orderly learning environment that engages students and maximize instructional time and on?task behavior.
- Manage students’ behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Accurately demonstrate knowledge in his/her content area, instructional methods, and relevant skills.
- Plan and deliver skills- based lessons and activities that incorporate knowledge of students’ academic needs and best practices.
- Define problems, analyze data, and develop action plans to increase student achievement.
- Ability to incorporate content area curriculum and skills maps into weekly planning for instruction.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
- Demonstrate a willingness to share personal talents and interests, through serving as a coach of an Urban Prep athletic team or through the moderation of a club or activity.
- Keep up to date with new developments in the areas of teaching and learning and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Effectively communicate with parents o Emailing and calling parents and students as needed
- Returning phone calls/e-mails ASAP but no longer than 24 hours after the initial contact.
- Effectively communicate with teachers, network/campus administrators:

Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
- Have a deep understanding and command of best practices in teaching and learning.
- Be adept at data analysis.
- Be flexible and possess a desire to work as part of a team.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $51,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
